Stories from our International Students

We are proud of the diversity our students bring to William Colenso College. We welcome students from all over the worldas well as those from Napier and the surrounding region. Their stories offer an insight into our culture. This is a culture that places high value on individual and team success. It also values and encourages pride in diversity.

Austria Students

Over the years we have had a number of students from Austria. There are currently no stories from Austria.

LUCY LU – first time for many things.
I was lucky to take part in a school trip with Colenso College international students for four days.

German Students

ANJA FUNK The first time I saw the New Zealand coast with the beautiful green hills I just knew that it was the right decision to come to this country. I had a great welcome from my host family.

Japanese Students

MIREI TANAKA Hello! My name is Mirei and I come from Japan. I decided to study abroad because I like English songs and I was interested in English. For the first month I felt out of place because I didn’t have any kiwi friends.

Hong Kong Students

ADA CHAN My name is Ada Chan. I came from Hong Kong to study in New Zealand when I was sixteen years old. I studied at William Colenso College in Napier for two years and finished my high school course in 2003.
