Student Support / Tautoko Ākonga

At William Colenso College, we believe that every student deserves to feel valued, included and supported in their learning journey.   Our committment to Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga and Hirangatanga guides everything we do - fostering care, connection and excellence in all aspects of school life.

Student needs are the centre of all that we do.  We recognise that our learners have diverse strengths, interests and needs.   Our student support systems are designed to help each individual reach their potential - academically, socially, emotionally and culturally.

Our dedicated team works alongside students, whanau and outside agencies to provide targeted assistance when needed.  Additional support can be offered in guidance, mentoring, learning assistance and wellbeing care.  Whether a student needs extra help with learning, support through personal challenges or encouragement to extend themselves we ensure that no one is left behind.   Our aim is to create a safe and nuturing environment where every student can succeed and thrive.

William Colenso College ensures students are engaged and able to achieve through being present, learning and belonging.  The student support team works to reduce barriers to learning for students.  We have a focus on inclusion and we ensure all learners are able to engage in learning that meets their individual needs / pathways and encourages success.

Through strong relationships and a culture of care we nurture confident, resilient learners who are proud of who they are, connected to their community and ready to take their next steps in life. We welcome and include whanau to assist in their students' educational, wellbeing and health journey.

Rangatahi, whānau and teachers are always welcome to come into Student Support to discuss potential support.
